Kim's Story

In December 2021, Kim, a vibrant woman who had just turned 31, was preparing for the holiday season when she started experiencing unusual tingling in both hands.

It didn't take long for her to receive a diagnosis that would change her life forever - multiple sclerosis.

Kim had limited knowledge about MS, but she was determined not to let it define her. She reached out to MS Queensland, where she found a supportive community and resources that helped her navigate this challenging time.

She remembers Rita from our NeuroAssist Team, who patiently explained all the services and support available to her.

"Many times I have called the Neuro Assist team to talk about my condition. Early on, it’s an overwhelming feeling - that not many people can truly understand. The team were always available to listen and I will be forever grateful to MS Queensland."

This was only possible because of the generous donations from people like you.

With the help of the MS Queensland team, Kim discovered she was eligible for the NDIS, opening the door to a range of services from regular physiotherapy to support in her full-time job.

Since then, she has been living her life to the fullest, salsa dancing, trapshooting, and refusing to let her condition dictate her life.

"The biggest difference in my life now is that I am enjoying life more than I was a year ago. I refuse to let life pass me by because of a condition..."
