Yes I Will Answer
The Call!
Christmas Eve in hospital wasn't on Bel's wishlist.
In 2018, Belinda (Bel) was desperately trying to create the perfect Christmas for her kids. As a teacher, the school year was ending, reports were due, and attempting to control kids who were itching for their holidays was a struggle.
Throw into the mix, this being the first Christmas following her separation from her husband, Bel was exhausted. Knowing what she knows now, it’s no wonder she experienced her first major seizure on Christmas Eve.
After countless appointments, scans and tests, Bel was finally diagnosed with frontal lobe Epilepsy, often triggered by high levels of stress, lack of sleep and heightened emotions.
Three years earlier, Bel had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). She now lives with not just one neurological condition, but two.
Feeling lost and overwhelmed is far too common for people diagnosed with a neurological condition like MS or Epilepsy.
That’s where you come in
Through your generous donation
Can you imagine how overwhelming that must be ? Will you help ensure that people like Bel get the help they need, in whatever form that person needs.
Last year our NeuroAssist Team answered nearly 3,000 calls for support thanks to your generosity.
But sadly, almost another 1,000 calls went unanswered.
That’s 1 in 4 calls. That needs to change.
But we can’t change that without you
Will you give a gift this Christmas to ensure that when someone is diagnosed with MS or another neurological condition, they don’t have to face it alone?
MS is different for everyone and the support one person needs differs from the next. Bel did not want anything at first, but over time she’s asked MS Queensland for employment support, help accessing the NDIS, and assistance from MS Nurses.
That is how you fit into Bel’s support network .
You may not have realised it, but you have made a huge difference for people living with MS and neurological conditions.
Your generosity through MS Queensland has allowed Bel to connect with the right information, the right funding, and the right people for her. But Bel’s support network stretches beyond MS Queensland.
Meet Bel's Support Network
Meet Ethan
Her son Ethan has been Bel’s unwavering strength since her MS diagnosis. Everyday, he quietly stepsup - taking on chores without being asked, giving her the warmest hugs, and bringing a smile to her face.
Meet Charlotte
Her daughter Charlotte is the bright light that warms Bel’s life, bringing joy even on the toughest days. She brews cups of tea with care, helps with the shopping, and always finds a way to lift her mum’s spirits.
Meet Amy
Bel’s best friend Amy has been her anchor through the storm—driving her to countless appointments over the years, always by her side with unwavering support.
Meet Bel's Clinical Team
Bel has assembled an incredible clinical team around her—her Neurologist, GP, MS Nurse, Physio, Psychologist, and Support Worker. Together, they are more than just professionals; they are her trusted allies.
